Teenagers guilty of racist attack in Loughton
Two teenagers who carried out a racist attack have avoided jail.
Billy Jago, 18, of Buckrell Road, Chingford, was found guilty of beating Mohammed Karif in Loughton on May 13.
Lauren Williams, also 18, of Hawthorne Road in Tolleshunt Knights, was convicted of racially abusing Mr Karif during the attack.
Jago was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid community work and ordered to pay £315 costs plus £50 compensation to his victim.
Williams was ordered to carry out 80 hours of community work and ordered to pay £215 costs plus £50 compensation.
They were both given one-year youth rehabilitation orders at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last week.
Jago also admitted possessing cannabis.
