Gods Own Junkyard deal falls through
12:02pm Tuesday 10th September 2013 in News
A deal which would have seen a renowned business find new premises after it was evicted by developers has fallen through.
God’s Own Junkyard specialises in iconic neon signs and attracts customers from all over the world.
But it faced an uncertain future when it was ordered to leave its base in Vallentin Road in Walthamstow by September 30 to make way for housing.
The business was then offered a lifeline when it was approached by the co-owner of Wood Street Indoor Market, Julie Davis.
She offered God’s Own Junkyard a space in the market currently used to store building materials.
But the offer has now been withdrawn due to a disagreement among the market’s owners over how the space should be used.
Linda Bracy, of God’s Own Junkyard, said the search has begun for new alternative premises, but is concerned about the future as the eviction deadline gets closer.
“It’s an awful situation. I’m losing sleep every single night over this,” she said.
“It’s a shame that something so popular is having to stop.”
