The Prime Minister has agreed to meet Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy over the treatment by Crete authorities of the family of teenager murdered on the island.

In a question to David Cameron today during Prime Minister’s Questions, Miss Creasy said the only contact grieving relatives of Leyton student Tyrell Matthews-Burton has received from police was when his clothes were returned.

Mr Cameron then agreed to meet with Miss Creasy and Mr Matthews-Burton’s mother to discuss the issue.

The exact time and date of the meeting are still to be confirmed but Ms Creasy expects to here from the Prime Minister’s office in the next few days.

The 19-year-old was stabbed to death outside a bar in the resort of Malia in the early hours of July 23.

Miss Creasy said: “I hope to raise the concerns I have about the information and support available for families in such terrible circumstances as well as my concerns about the response I've had so far from the Greek authorities.”

Myles Litchmore-Dunbar, 19, is accused of Mr Matthews-Burton's murder and a dozen British tourists appeared in court on the Greek island in connection with the mass brawl, which led to him being stabbed in the chest and back.

Justice Across Borders, which campaigns for the rights of crime victims in the European Union, has offered support to the family.
