Two men have been remanded in custody after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with conspiring to commit acts of terrorism and possession of ammunition.
Mohommod Hassin Nawaz, 29, and Hamza Nawaz, 22, of Dirleton Road in Stratford, will appear at the Old Bailey on October 21.
The men were arrested in the early hours of September 16 in Dover after travelling from Calais in France and were later taken to a London police station.
The charges relate to suspected terrorism in Syria, with both men accused of conspiring to attend a location used for terrorist training.
Mohommod Hassin Nawaz has also been charged with the possession of a laptop thought to contain documents relating to acts of terrorism.
Search warrants were executed at an east London address on Monday and in connection with two vehicles.
A third man, 37, and woman, 36, were also arrested at an Essex address on September 18 in relation to acts of terrorism, but were later released without charge.
