Phoenix Epping Hotel hopes to boost tourism in the district
Epping looks set to become a popular destination for thousands of Chinese tourists.
Phoenix Publishing and Media, based in Jiangsu Province, has purchased the former Travelodge hotel and Little Chef restaurant on the A414.
It is planning a complete refurbishment, which will include a Chinese restaurant serving authentic regional dishes, to attract tourists from the Far East to the area.
The company says it hopes to accommodate visitors from Chinese schools, businesses and tourists, as well as the hotel's traditional clientele.
Staff previously employed by Travelodge will be kept on under the new regime.
