A resilience crew attended a false alarm in North Weald while firefighters went on strike
The one emergency call to the Fire Brigade during a four-hour strike yesterday was a false alarm.
A back-up crew, made up of firefighters who are contractually required not to strike, was called to an incident in Gibson Close, North Weald, at 3.30pm.
They found a bonfire burning under control but no action was needed.
Union members were taking part in a national strike over proposed pension reforms.
There were seven calls in Essex during the four hour strike period.
