Three suspected thieves were arrested after their car smashed into other vehicles during a police chase.

Police say the trio hit "several" cars in High Road, Woodford Green, near the junction with Broadmead Road, before coming to a halt.

All three men, aged 18, 25 and 27, were then arrested on suspicion of stealing a car and being equipped to steal.

The 27-year-old was also arrested for failing to stop for police, driving without a licence and having no insurance.

It happened at 4.30pm on Thursday September 12.

The Guardian asked Redbridge Police about the incident the next day but it has taken until this morning - two weeks later - for the force to provide details about what happened.

The men have since been bailed until October 4.

A Met spokeswoman said: "Police were following a vehicle when it was stopped [in] Woodford High Road.

"The vehicle had collided with several other vehicles before being stopped.

"Three occupants were arrested for traffic offences".
