A specialist collecting club is celebrating its 70th anniversary by giving people the opportunity to marvel at weird, wonderful and rare stamps.
Epping Forest and District Stamp club boasts an extensive collection of foreign, war time and highly valuable pieces.
Secretary and treasurer, Roger Pearce, says it is a hobby which brings people of all ages together.
He said: “We have around 36 members but we attract collectors from all over to our auctions.
“Each stamp has a story, they are fascinating to hear. People show their own collections and the group is always learning new things based on the stories.
“It is a hobby which can last a life time. My grandchildren are already collecting and I did from a young age.”
The club will celebrate its anniversary on November 12 by putting on an exhibition, with members contributing prized stamps colected over decades.
Mr Pearce, 68, is planning to show off his own collection, which includes limited edition ‘smiler’ sheets and a rare collection made in honour of the National Association of Retired Police Officers.
The event, at Roding Valley High School in Alderton Hill, starts at 8.15pm.
Mr Pearce said: "The meeting will display members’ collecting interests and will feature philatelic memorabilia relating to the earliest mail in our area, as well as that of the Second World War, which was in its midst at the time the club was formed."
