Epping Forest sees 22 schools hit by strike action
A strike by teachers closed many schools across the district.
The industrial action took place as a result of disputes between unions and the government over teachers’ pay, conditions and pensions.
The National Union of Teachers told the Guardian 22 schools in Epping Forest were closed, or only admitted limited numbers of pupils.
Essex County Council and the Department for Education said they were both unaware of how many schoos were affected.
The NUT's Murray Sackwild said: “Teachers care deeply about the service that we provide to our students and reluctantly struck because all other means of protest have been tried and ignored.”
