Phoenix Epping Hotel officially opens
A hotel which is expected to attract thousands of Chinese visitors to the district has opened.
Phoenix Publishing and Media Group (PPMG) recently took control of the former Travelodge on the A414, near North Weald.
Yesterday afternoon it was opened as the Phoenix Epping Hotel.
John Price, chairman of the Epping Forest Chamber of Commerce, earlier described the takeover as "great news". He said: "China is a big country looking for places to spend its money.
"We need to do more of this sort of thing."
The company has converted the hotel into a more business-friendly venue, having added conference and meeting rooms and now plans to attract tourists from its home province of Jiang Su.
