A body found in water in Waltham Abbey yesterday is thought to be a missing woman
The body of a woman found in Waltham Abbey is believed to be missing 61-year-old Kathleen Morris.
Police were contacted at about 4pm yesterday after a member of the public spotted the body in water near the Cornmill car park.
A police spokesman said: “Sadly it is believed to be Kathleen Morris who has been missing since Monday lunchtime.
“Officers investigating the disappearance of Mrs Morris have been made aware of the find and have been in close contact with her family.”
A post-mortem examination will take place prior to any formal identification however the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Police Inspector Marc Jordan, the neighbourhood inspector for Waltham Abbey said: “I would like to pass on my thanks to the countless members of the public who assisted in the search for Kathleen.
“This is a terrible tragedy and support will be offered the Kathleen’s family and all the officers involved in this tragic discovery.”
Mrs Morris of Margaret Close had been missing since Monday.
