A section motorway is expected to remain closed until lunchtime following a road crash this morning.

The smash happened near North Weald on the southbound M11 when a lorry and a van struck each other shortly before 5am approaching junction six for the M25.

The lorry to flipped onto its side, causing oil and fuel to spill onto the road and the verge.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries, with the van driver treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to his home in Harlow.

The lorry driver, a man from Kent, was taken by paramedics to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow and later discharged.

The carriageway is closed at junction seven for Harlow and there are diversions through Ongar and Epping.

Due to the size of the lorry, a specialist recovery truck is needed and this is currently on its way to the scene.

Any witnesses to the crash can call investigating officers at Essex Police’s Chigwell Road Policing Unit.
