Police investigating the beating and stabbing of a man have launched a public appeal for information about the attack.

The 26-year-old was cycling home in Selwyn Avenue, Highams Park, when he was stopped by five people who pushed him to the ground and punched him.

He was then stabbed in the back and stomach before the suspects ran off down Selwyn Avenue.

He managed to reach his home address and he was taken to hospital, where staff called police just before 9pm.

Police say the suspects are teenagers or young adults, all wearing hooded tops.

The incident happened on September 25.
