London Underground train driver brings local band together to produce rock'n'roll Christmas single
A Tube driver has brought together old bandmates to record a Christmas song for charity.
Stuart Ramsden, 44, of Grove Road in Chingford, is known in the local area for his musical talent and has formed the YuleBillies to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
In 2010, he set up ‘Busking Cancer’, a project aimed at raising money by busking in local pubs, supermarkets and parks.
And Mr Ramsden has now written and produced his first ever record.
The nine-man band began working together four weeks ago and has now completed the song, Crazy for Christmas.
Mr Ramsden's mother survived cervical cancer and many people he knows have been affected by the disease.
The inspiration for the lyrics came while the father-of-three was driving a train on the Northern Line.
“I waited until I had a break and wrote down the words," he said.
“At first, the song was called Crazy for Love, but when I decided to produce a song leading up to Christmas, I just changed the words."
The name of the band is an acknowledgement of the influence of Rockabilly, a style of classic rock'n'roll.
The video to accompany the song has been filmed by Walthamstow Amateur Cinematic Club and the song was recorded at Soundlab Studios in Loughton.
The shooting of the music video took place at the recording studio and at the Old Hall Tavern pub in Chingford Lane, Chingford.
Crazy for Christmas will be available to download from iTunes on November 17.
Stuart plays the guitar and is the group’s lead vocalist. The lead guitarist is Joe Butcher from Chingford, bass guitarist is Graham Holden from Harlow and Richard Shepherd from Dartford is the drummer.
Trevor Weatherley, from Chingford, plays harmonica and Robert Lewis from Wanstead plays percussion. Helping out on vocals are Robert’s wife Lisa, Paula McCarthy from Chingford and Claire O’Brien from Walthamstow.
