Thugs who attacked a man then repeatedly punched a woman trying to defend him are facing jail.

The trio left Lauren White’s head covered with bruises and fractured Jamie Flory’s eye socket after an attack in Station Road, Chingford, last year.

At Snaresbrook Crown Court yesterday Charles Roberson, 19, of Richmond Crescent, Chingford, Bradley Lupton, 20, of Aldriche Way, Chingford and George Saitch, 27, of Elghar Close, Ilford, were unanimously convicted of causing grievous bodily harm.

Saitch was also found guilty of assault by beating.

At 2am on August 25 Mr Flory was walking from a Station Road pub to his uncle’s house with a group of friends including Miss White.

Upon being confronted by four men an argument flared.

After one of the defendants was heard to say “I’ll beat up the fat one” Mr Flory was punched to the ground and kicked repeatedly before being chased to his uncle’s house on the Kings Road, where he was attacked again.

Miss White was repeatedly punched by Saitch when she stepped in to put herself between the men and Mr Flory.

Saitch, Lupton and Roberson only ran off when Mr Flory’s aunt opened the front door, the court heard.

Saitch had told police: “To be honest with you it’s Friday night and it was handbags at dawn.”

The men had denied causing grievous bodily harm with intent, causing grievous bodily harm, and assault by beating.

They were remanded in custody until sentencing on November 22.

Lupton and Roberson were both cleared of assault by beating.

A fourth defendant, Joshua Norrish, 21, was cleared of all charges.
