Two Leyton Orient players visited a school yesterday to coach an aspiring girls’ football team.
Nathan Clarke, 30, and Jack Sherratt, 21, visited Aldersbrook Primary School in Harpenden Rd, Wanstead, to give out free tickets to their next game on Saturday against Rotherham United and to give some tips to the girls.
Dean Gibson, parent support advisor at the school, said: “The girls are really enthusiastic about football.
“The problem is getting other schools to take part in girls’ football, so the girls were really excited about the players coming to coach them.
“I am a huge Leyton Orient fan which is why I was behind getting the school involved and I was delighted when we were chosen to take part in LOPASS.”
The visit was part of the Leyton Orient Partnership of Associated Schools (LOPASS), which the school applied to be part of and was successful along with seven other schools in the area.
The school will now benefit from further player visits, sports coaching, features in match day programmes and stadium visits.
