A controversial nightclub which lost an appeal against a cut to its opening hours is seeking a judicial review of the decision.

Funky Mojoe in High Road, South Woodford, has notified Redbridge Council that an application has been lodged with the High Court.

The nightclub’s opening times were brought in line with most pubs after CCTV images showed the venue had become a magnet for crime and anti-social behaviour.

A judge sitting at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court upheld the ruling on appeal last week.

Funky Mojoe was also ordered to pay £72,000 legal costs to Redbridge Council, which has vowed to challenge the last legal avenue open to the nightclub.

A spokeswoman said: "As interested party, the council will vigorously oppose the judicial review application."
