Two men have been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation after allegedly attempting to steal £8,000 from an elderly man.
The man from Loughton, who is in his 80s, is believed to be another victim of the telephone scam currently blighting the district.
Charlie Snow, 18, of Farringdon Lane in Clerkenwell, and Joe Stokes 21, of Errol Street in Clerkenwell, will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court, although police have not released the date of the trial.
Six people have been charged and are awaiting trial for similar offences since the start of the scam, this year.
