The company which runs the school bus involved in a serious collision yesterday in Epping has released a statement following the incident.

Two pupils from the Anglo European School in Ingatestone were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital after the bus they were travelling on became involved in the crash.

They were on First group’s American-style yellow bus on the 620 route when the incident occurred near the junction of Coopersale Common Road.

Police are expected to release further information today.

A First spokesman said: “We can confirm that one of our Yellow School Buses travelling to Epping was involved in an incident at the Coopersale Street stop on the B181, around 1630 yesterday afternoon.

“We are now working closely with the police, who have informed us that there are currently no serious injuries reported from customers on our service.

“We have liaised with the headmaster of the Anglo European School, and we will be contacting the parents of the students on board the bus to reassure them, and our customers, that we are doing everything we can to assist the police with their investigations.”

It is believed the second bus was operated by Olympian & SM Coaches Ltd, based in Harlow.

The company has declined to comment at this stage.
