A woman who was hit by a car this afternoon may have life-changing injuries, according to the police.

The pedestrian, believed to be in her 20s, was hit by a vehicle at about 2pm outside Ilford train station.

An ambulance attended the scene about 10 minutes later and she was treated for a leg injury, which was not thought to be life threatening. 

Cranbrook Road is closed in both directions, causing tailbacks as far back as the Romford Road and Rabbits Road junction. 

The road was closed around 2.25pm and no arrests have been made.
