Work has begun to transform the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stadium into a multi-use venue.
The 14 triangular designed floodlights that surround the outer stadium are being removed so that a new roof - twice the size of its original, can be built.
The new cantilevered roof will be the largest in the world and will cover every seat in the stadium.
Once the roof is installed, new floodlights similar in design to the ones being removed but will be placed inside the stadium.
Work will be completed in spring 2015 ahead of the Rugby World Cup matches taking place later that year.
