Reports of rape in Redbridge have risen sharply in the last year, while overall crime is down.

There were 114 cases of rape in the 12 months up to October, compared to 91 in the year before.

Crimes involving violence have also increased from 4,076 in 2012 to 4,190 in 2013. This is despite an overall fall across London.

Domestic violence in Redbridge has risen by nearly 20 per cent in the last 12 months, compared to an overall rise of six per cent rise in the capital.

The total number of burglaries has fallen by 400 in the last year and overall crime in the borough is down by 22 per cent.

There were 20,737 crimes committed in the borough of Redbridge in the 12 months to October 2013, compared to 22,998, in the previous year.
