Leyton Orient striker Kevin Lisbie has backed a campaign tackling violence against women and girls.
Waltham Forest Council's Violence Against Women and Girls strategy was launched at the O’s stadium yesterday, on the UN’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Players from the first team, including 35-year-old Lisbie who is joint fourth-highest scorer in League 1 this season with nine goals, joined councillors to sign a pledge.
“The club and I are proud to be supporting this campaign and it’s something we’re passionate about. Violence against women is inexcusable and we’re wholeheartedly behind what the council is doing. We’re asking residents to support us by signing the pledge and blowing the whistle on violence against women and girls,” Lisbie said.
The White Ribbon campaign is a male-led initiative to end violence against women.
