Two cousins are set to run their 12th marathon in a year next month as part of a fundraising push.

Thomas Whitney, 37, and Dominic Miles 34, set themselves the goal of running a marathon every month to raise money for two charities.

They are hoping to complete the challenge by running from Windsor Castle to Buckingham Palace, following the route used during the 1908 Olympics.

“It’s been a really hard but memorable slog,” said Thomas, a City University course officer who lives in Blake Hall Crescent in Wanstead.

“Last year I stopped running and felt I missed it because I previously did a marathon each year for seven years.

“I know people think I’m crazy but it’s exciting.”

“I’m just trying to push myself, to see how far I can go, raise money for charity and see my cousin and his young son – there’s not many opportunities to see them.”

Their aim is to reach a target of £2,000. Currently they have raised £1,857.

The pair will have run over 310miles in support of Tommy’s, a pregnancy research charity, and Doctors Without Borders, which helps people affected by war and disasters.
