Police hunting a murderer who escaped from a mental health unit have increased a reward offered for information leading to his capture.

Lerone Boye, 27, was sentenced in December 2012 for the murder of teenager Kelvin Chibueze in Ilford and was placed in the John Howard Centre in Kenworthy Road Homerton.

He absconded on October 16 and police have been appealing for information, with Crimestoppers now covering the manhunt by contributing an extra £5,000 to the reward, which now stands at £15,000.

Boye is described as black, 5ft 10ins, with a slim build, short hair and a goatee beard.

He also has a distinctive horseshoe shape scar on his right cheek and a gold tooth in his upper row of teeth was last seen wearing a grey or blue sweatshirt with a grey vest over the top and grey jogging bottoms.

Police have warned the public not to approach Boye and suspect he may still be in east London.
