A paedophile former teacher has been jailed for a sex attack on a pupil 40 years ago.
Peter Wigg, who taught at Brook Modern School in Loughton in the early 1970s, will serve 20 months after pleading guilty to four offences of indecent assault on a girl, and two more of committing gross indecency with a child.
The court heard during the 72-year-old’s trial that the abuse happened during the autumn term at the school and after a carol service in Epping Forest when Wigg offered the child a lift home.
Mr Wigg, a grandfather, of Jasmine Crescent in Princes Risborough, previously served another prison sentence in 2003 for offences against another girl and was a science teacher at the Loughton school.
The victim, who was in court for the sentencing hearing earlier this month, reported the abuse to police in November 2012, with Wigg voluntarily going to Aylesbury police station to make a statement in February this year.
Wigg, who was a teacher for 32 years, was also jailed for 15 months in September 2003 for offences of indecent assault on a 12-year-old girl when he was acting as a home tutor in Essex, the court heard.
