A nine-year-old girl has had her head shaved after being inspired by a TV programme about a charity helping children with cancer.

Kendra Shoesmith, of Hoppett Road in Chingford, has today raised almost £300 for the Little Princess Trust charity.

The Longshaw Primary School pupil was first inspired after watching a television programme about the charity, which makes wigs for children with cancer.

Kendra said: “I saw a programme about kids my age with cancer and how they lost their hair.

"I also got inspired by watching Jessie J when she cut all her hair off for Red Nose Day last year."

Kendra’s mother Kyra is full of pride for her daughter.

She said: "It’s absolutely great and it’s good that she came up with the idea herself.

"My daughter has been saying for months that she wanted to do this and now it is finally happened”.
