Nelson Mandela was the 'epitome of showing forgiveness', according to Ilford North MP Lee Scott.

Following the former President of South Africa's death yesterday aged 95, Mr Scott said: “This is a huge loss.

"The man was the epitome of showing forgiveness. He was a wonderful man, a world leader, and a statesman.

“He showed forgiveness after spending years in prison and we should mourn his passing and celebrate his life."

On Twitter, Ilford South MP Mike Gapes said: "Sad day. The struggle was his life. Very few men or women had such a profound actual and symbolic impact on the world.”
