A Woodford dance school dressed up in Santa outfits and performed carols to raise money for a children's charity.

The Alexandra School of Performing Arts (ASPA) in Woodford Green sang to crowds on Saturday at Chigwell Nursery in High Road.

Reindeer's, a free Santa's grotto also feaured in the fundraising effort for charity Whizz Kids.

The nursery annually holds a festive event on up to four weekends throughout December to raise funds for various charities.

Whizz Kids provides disabled children with wheelchairs and other mobility equipment.

Principal Alex Hughes, 34, of ASPA, has been singing with students and parents of the dance school at the nursery for four years, and has performed with her group for the past two Saturdays.

She said: "It's great fun and it is another opprtunity for my students to perform.

"It's different from what they're used to because they are up close to people rather than on a stage and the fact that we're able to help raise money for charity is perfect."
