The council is appealing for volunteers to help plant 1,200 spring bulbs in a nature reserve.

The bulbs were donated to Ongar Town Council by a mystery donor two weeks ago and will be planted at the entrance of the Jubilee Nature Reserve in High Street.

They include a mixture of native plants such as blue bells, Anemone Blanda, Winter Aconites and Nodding Star of Bethlehem.

Volunteers will need to take along their own tools on December 12 at 10am and ensure they wear suitable clothes.

Town clerk, Aimi Middlehurst, said: "This is the latest step by councillors to develop the site as a place of relaxation and enjoyment for local people to enjoy, whether to walk through on their way to the High Street or to take in the views of the wildlife and the Cripsey Brook."
