Scouts will be helping shoppers pack bags in order to raise funds for a new hut.

First Theydon Garnon Scout Group will be lending a hand at Tesco in High Street, Epping, on Saturday from, 9.30am until 3.30pm, hoping to raise around £700 from shoppers' donations.

The group have raised around £20,000 so far of the estimated £300,000 needed for the new building in Fluxs Lane, Theydon Garnon.

Scout leader Jacqui Jefford said: “We really need a new place because the hut at the moment is falling apart.

“A new hut would mean we are able to offer the community a meeting place as well as having space to increase our group.

"Having 25 scouts running around can sometimes be quite chaotic.

“The new hut would mean we could also invest in more equipment because we would be able to store it somewhere and other community groups could also keep equipment there too.”
