A car crashed through a garden wall at a notorious accident black spot.

The vehicle ploughed through the barrier on Monday after the driver lost control at the junction of Stewards Green Road, Mount Road and Coopersale Street in Fiddlers Hamlet.

The car careered into Michelle Evans’ garden and is the third car to crash at the junction this month.

Mrs Evans said: “It’s lucky nobody was killed. People drive far too fast around the corner and they can’t see round the bend.

“There are small children who ride bikes around here and a lot of people coming and going from the pub.”

The vehicle demolished two walls and left brickwork lying a few feet from Mrs Evans’ house.

The road’s speed limit was reduced from 60mph to 40mph earlier this year but the homeowner wants more to be done.

She said: “We had to rebuild our wall and reinforce it in July after another car had gone through it. I’m fed up.

“I think they should but a raised hump across the junction to slow drivers down.”

The Guardian has contacted the council for a comment.
