A volunteer group is looking for people to help operate Epping Forest Visitor Centre.

The Friends of Epping Forest are preparing for the re-opening of the centre in High Beach in April.

The centre will close from December 29 while the new volunteers are trained.

Epping Forest's head of visitor services, Tony Fenwick, said: "We are delighted the Friends of Epping Forest have offered to operate the centre at High Beach and we will now work in partnership to provide appropriate support and training.

"The aims are to ensure that the facility remains open to visitors and provides a high quality and developing service for visitors to this popular area of the forest."

Friends of Epping Forest chairwoman, Judy Adams, said: "Recruitment for volunteers has begun and this is their chance to share their love of this ancient woodland with others and enable them to explore and understand more of the forest."
