A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Chigwell.

Police arrested a man, from Chigwell, in Loughton in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of GBH with intent, following the incident at Limes Farm on Monday.

A spokewoman for Essex Police says the man arrested remains in custody and that the age of the male suspect has not been released for 'operational reasons'.

The teenager from Plaistow was found on a grass verge of the roundabout at the junction of Limes Avenue and Westmede in Chigwell shortly before 9pm on December 9.

He had suffered a stab wound to his leg and remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Witnesses have reported seeing a car leaving the estate between 8.30pm and 9pm.

A forensic examination was carried out at the scene on Tuesday and officers attempted to speak to residents.

Detective Inspector Steve Ellis, said: "We know that there were people at the scene who can provide key witness information and I urge them to contact police.
