Police have launched a Christmas appeal to remind the public of five missing people from the past year.

The missing persons unit of Redbridge has compiled a list of residents whose disappearances are still being investigated in order to raise more public awareness over the festive period. 

Members of the public are being urged to call 101 if they have any information on the following people.

Algimantas Galinaitis, 29, was last seen at his home in Ilford on September 17 last year, but had an argument with his mother and has not been seen since.

He is described as slim, 6ft tall, with short brown hair and blue eyes, and is a Lithuanian national with a strong accent.

Ewa Wargal, thought to be aged around 50, was last seen on September 26 at Ilford police station.

She entered the police station lost and confused and said she lived a few stops from Stratford, but was reported missing after she used the station wash facilities and did not return to speak to officers.

She is described as a Polish female, with short blonde hair, pale complexion, and was last seen wearing a red cardigan, jeans and red socks, with no shoes on.

Hue Nguyen, 15, was last seen on September 13 in Redbridge and speaks limited English as she had only been in the UK since June 2013.

She was placed into foster care before she went missing, and is described as Vietenamese, 5ft 5in tall, slim, with shoulder length brown hair and pierced ears.

She was wearing a black, woolly jacket, a white and red striped jumper and grey jogging bottoms.

Alina Tiran, 18, was last seen on August 9 in Ilford and was in the care of social services when she went missing.

She is described as Romanian, slim, with hazel eyes and long hair.

Bich Ngoc Bui, 17, was last seen on February 15 in Ilford and was reported missing after being in the care of the local authority.

She is described as Vietnamese, slim, with shoulder length brown hair and police believe she may be older than first thought.

Charity Missing People has been working closely with the police to investigate these and other cases in the borough. 

A spokeswoman from Missing People said: “Anyone affected by a disappearance can contact us 24 hours a day for advice and support by phone, email, text and online.

"Missing People also coordinates a UK wide network of people, businesses and media to join the search for the estimated 250,000 people who go missing each year.”
