A woman who lives in a street which has seen three car crashes in a month fears someone could be killed at the junction.

Michelle Evans' garden wall was demolished when a car drove into it in Fiddlers Hamlet last week.

It was the third incident this month at the junction of Stewards Green Road, Mount Road and Coopersale Street.

Mrs Evans said: “Does someone actually have to die before they do something?

“It seems the authorities aren’t bothered unless there’s a serious injury.”

Her comments follow a statement issued by Essex Highways, which said: “Collision statistics at the junction do not meet the minimum criteria for casualty reduction measures.”

Mrs Evans added: “I’m not going to let this go. Something has to be done.

“There are plenty of accidents that people don’t report, they just sort it out between themselves.

“There needs to be a barrier put up on the kerb to prevent drivers mounting the pavement and the speed limit should be brought down to 20mph for the junction.

“If anyone had been on the pavement last Monday then they would’ve been dead.”
