Police are appealing for witnesses after a driver failed to stop following a collision with a scooter rider.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Ranger's Road and Epping New Road in Loughton shortly after 4pm yesterday.

The scooter was travelling north along Epping New Road when the car, travelling south, pulled across the carriageway into Ranger's Road.

Witnesses report seeing a dark blue car, similar to a Ford Focus, leaving the scene of the crash.

Investigating officer PC Paul Lindup said: “The car stopped momentarily for a few seconds but then drove off without leaving any details or checking to see if the scooter rider was ok.”

The man on the motorbike was treated at the scene and later taken to Whipps Cross and treated for lacerations to his leg.

Anyone with information can call PC Lindup at Chigwell on 101.
