A local group will display a model military tank at a national model engineering exhibitioin in January 2014.

Representative of the UK Tank Club, Robin Ellis, 74, of Connaught Avenue, Chingford, will take the ‘Tiger301' which starred in the alternative history film, 'Jackboots on Whitehall' in 2010 to the London Model Engineering Exhibition on January 17 to 19.

The 1:6 scale radio controlled all metal armoured vehicle will take pride of place on the UK Tank Club’s stand at the show, which attracts more than 15,000 model enthusiasts and visitors annually.

The tank which weighs around 25 stone (160 kilos) was  created especially for the film as requested by the films directors and producers, and includes celebrity voice-overs from Ewan McGregor, Richard E Grant and Timothy Spall.

Mr Ellis said: "We are delighted to be attending this exhibition again, having missed out last year and displaying a very much talked about tank.

"Bringing ‘Tiger 301'to London gives film and model enthusiasts a central point to come and see this amazing piece of machinery.

"It’s great to have one of the main props from the movie which I am sure will be a star attraction on our stand. We hope that it will inspire people to find out more and get involved with our exclusive club."
