A drug gang have been jailed for supplying a large amount of herion and cocaine across London and the south-east.

Rigert Caushi, 31, of Aldridge Way, Highams Park, was jailed today for 13 years after admitting his part in the multi-million pound conspiracy.

Caushi was twice spotted quickly getting in and out of vehicles. When the drivers were subsequently stopped by police, they found half a kilo of cocaine, individual wraps and two kilos of heroin.

On a third occasion in June, Caushi’s accomplice, Suel Spahiu, 28, was seen carrying a plastic bag into a car which was then driven by another man to Oxford.

The car was stopped in Oxford later that day and three packages containing three kilos of cocaine were found hidden in the dashboard compartment.

On July 3 Police stopped a minicab in which Spahiu was a passenger, and found five kilos of cocaine and three kilos of heroin in the boot.

Shortly afterwards, Caushi was arrested outside a flat in Kempsford Road, Earls Court, and a search of the flat found six kilos of heroin, 3.5 kilos of cocaine and more than £10,000.

Spahiu, of no fixed abode, was jailed for 11 years for conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin and Mohammed Djellab, 64, of Salisbury Place, Oval, was given a 14 month suspended sentence for possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

Detective Inspector Nick Blackburn, of the Central Task Force, said: "These men were responsible for moving and supplying large amounts of class A drugs around London and the south-east.

"They were happy to reap the financial rewards of their activity and were perfectly content to ignore the misery they peddled. It is therefore satisfying to see them behind bars where they belong.

"The arrests came as the result of a long-term operation targeting this drugs network and I would like to pay tribute to my colleagues whose fine work led to their incarceration."

All three men pleaded guilty to the offences on October 18.
