A charity is hosting a special 'Celebration of Life' event in honour of Nelson Mandela.
Waltham Forest THUSO in South Africa, will hold the social event this evening in Grosvenor Road, Walthamstow.
The charitable trust, which helps raise funds to assist young people in meeting their educational needs in South Africa, will present Mandela artifacts, discuss new projects, and play South African music.
Trustee Jill Watkins said: "The reason we are holding the event is that Thuso supports destitute children through school which emulates Nelson Mandela's belief that education is the key to progress and self determination in South Africa.
"We in Thuso with the help of our sponsors are trying to redress the imbalance by helping to pay school fees, buying essential books and helping with a feeding scheme for destitute students, who would probably have been forced to leave school before the final year."
The event is from 6:30m to 9:30pm tonight.
