A Christmas card designed by an eight-year-old girl has been selected as the winner of an MP’s festive greeting card competition.
Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy made a surprise visit to Mission Grove Primary School, in Buxton Road, Walthamstow, to congratulate Sabita Manipallavarajan on winning the competition.
The design of the card will be used to send out over 3,500 cards to staff that work with Ms Creasy as constituency MP and Shadow Minister for Business.
Ms Creasy said: "It was really difficult judging the competition given the high standard of all the hundreds of entries we received but Sabby's (Sabita) design really stood out for its bright colours and positive message.
"Sabby seemed very excited to win and so did her class too so it was a pleasure to be able to thank her in person.
"I'm looking forward to welcoming her and her family to parliament and want to thank all the local businesses whose sponsorship made this competition possible as well as all the children who took part."
Sponsors of the greeting card competition included local businesses, Warren Evans, Lee Valley Estates, Hill Residential, Riney,Bates of London, Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub, McDonalds, Paul Henry Architects and the North East London Business Expo.
