Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn has revealed his is hopeful the club will "fulfil the dream" and play the majority of their home games at the Olympic Stadium.

Hearn revealed yesterday that he was told anchor tenants West Ham United would not be able to block a request by the O's to rent the venue during a meeting with the London Legacy Development Corporation.

His previous efforts to establish a groundshare with their Premier League neighbours have been unsuccessful.

Mr Hearn told the Guardian: “We will be in negotiations as soon as possible and it’s for them to give me an offer and we will go from there.

“It’s a taxpayer’s asset and the company running it have a duty to maximise that asset and that’s what we’re offering.

“We’re flexible with our dates and I’m optimistic about it.

“I think we could fill 18,000 seats on the lower tier if we have Championship football and free tickets for children.”

Hearn insisted the move would not be driven by revenue.

He added: “It’s not about the money for us it’s about fulfilling a dream.

“Leyton Orient in the Olympic Stadium is the dream.”

It is understoof West Ham would be given priority for use of the stadium as anchor tenants but will not be able to veto applications to use the ground.

A management company for the stadium is due to be appointed in the Autumn next year.

Orient are currently top of League One.
