Amber weather warnings are in place in London and the East of England.
The Met Office is urging drivers and other commuters to be prepared for disruption to journeys due to severe weather when travelling over the next two days.
Road and rail networks are likely to be affected by high winds and heavy rain and anyone travelling in the next two days is urged to start their journey as soon as possible and check their route before travelling.
Drivers have been urged to slow down and take extra care when driving or passing high sided vehicles and to take extra care in exposed areas such as bridges.
