A motorist is currently stranded in Stondon Road, Ongar, after driving into flood water.

The man has driven his Mercedes into about a foot of water, which is halfway up the wheels.

Earlier another motorist was reportedly stuck in the road for over an hour before being towed out by a passing 4x4.

A police unit is on its way to the scene.

The Environment Agency has urged motorists not to drive into any flood water which is over 30cm deep.
