A children’s performance of a festive tale was seen by a capacity audience.

Budworth Hall in High Street, Ongar, hosted The Active Storytelling Company’s festive workshop yesterday.

A total of 28 children aged five to eight attended to tell the story of Father Christmas Needs a Wee complete with homemade puppets and actions to accompany the narrator.

The company started in summer and is run by Debbie Gallagher who has a background in theatre and storytelling and Deborah Coates-Reynolds who has a background in teaching and takes charge of the puppet making.

She said: “The children really enjoyed it, as did the parents, and they had great fun making the Santa puppets out of milk bottles and cotton wool and they always love doing the actions.

“It was good to see boys there as well as girls. Hopefully they learn something but the focus is on enjoyment.”
