Water levels return to normal after flood alert

East London and West Essex Guardian Series: Ching Brook Ching Brook

A flood alert which was issued on Christmas Eve has been removed for the Lower Lee tributaries after water levels returned to normal on Christmas Day evening. 

A warning of possible flooding around Ching Brook, near Chingford, Cobbins Brook, near Waltham Abbey, and Trinity Marsh Ditch, near Waltham Cross, was issued after 15mm of rainfall in 24 hours was recorded on Tuesday.

I do not think they are fit for purpose, a spokesmen was 'advising people what to do' on the radio yesterday, stating the obvious 'put your valuables above the level of the water' and to 'stack sandbags where water may come in'.

No advice where to get sand and bags on a Boxing Day mind. Ridiculous.
