Residents are being asked to nominate local people and businesses that have contributed to the community as part of the Mayor’s Community Awards 2014.

Residents living in Redbridge have up until tomorrow to nominate the good samaritans for the four categories on offer.

The theme for the 2014 awards, hosted by Rebridge Mayor Cllr Felicity Banks is ‘Giving a helping hand’.

Speaking about the awards, Cllr Felicity Banks said: "The awards are to celebrate and thank all those who work throughout the year to help others whether that be through their business, in their own lives helping family, friends or those in the community.

"I hope that residents across the Borough will nominate those who have helped others so that the awards reflect the good work that is being carried out in all the different parts of the Borough, north, east, south and west."

A panel of councillors, officers and members of the community will meet to shortlist the nominations and select the winners.

The categories to nominate are: best business contribution to the community, creating a safer Rebridge, making a greener Rebridge, caring for others in Rebridge and contribution in suuport of young people.

To make a nomination, visit the borough's website.

The awards ceremony will be held in February.
