The site used for a controversial music festival has been branded “wholly inadequate” by a licensing committee.

Redbridge Council has decided to revoke the licence for the High Definition festival, which has been held at Forest Farm in Forest Road, Hainault, for the past three years.

A licensing review assessed large amounts of crime and disorder associated with the festival, with 900 cases of forged tickets.

A council spokesman said: “The decision was made for a number of reasons but it was notable that the committee agreed with the police and other agencies that the infrastructure surrounding the premises is wholly inadequate for such large numbers of people.

“This compromises the licensing objectives - to prevent public nuisance, crime and disorder and promote public safety.”

Organisers are still deciding whether to appeal the decision and are looking for alternative sites for the next event planned for July 5.

A statement on the festival’s website said: “The festival has grown substantially in its three years of existence and it was felt by the council that the site was unsuitable for holding an event that attracts so many people.

“The licence holders are currently considering whether to appeal this decision but in the meantime we have already been looking at alternative sites and will confirm the festival's new location in the New Year.

“We are committed to bringing you the best possible event and will ensure that HD 2014 is better than ever.”
