Two fireworks displays have been cancelled due to bad weather
New Year firework displays have been cancelled due to concerns about public safety linked to bad weather conditions.
The displays were scheduled to take place on January 1 at Highams Park field and Leyton Jubilee Park, and will now take place at a later date.
A council spokeswoman said: "We apologise to residents for an inconvenience this causes and hope that we will be able to mark the new year with a later event.
"Public safety is our primary concern so we've had to make the tough decision to cancel both displays while there's a chance that the severe weather conditions would pose any risk to spectators."
