A children’s charity will receive £12,000 from a bookmaker following the final of a national darts championship.
Haven House Children’s Hospice in High Road, Woodford Green, which has shops in High Street, Epping and Chingford Mount Road, Chingford, will receive the donation from Ladbrokes.
The bookmaker pledged to pay the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) official charity £10 for each occasion a maximum 180 points was scored during the PDC World Darts Championships, which the bookmaker sponsors.
Ladbroke’s doubled the £6,000 generated because the total of 600 maximum scores recorded, at Alexandra Palace during the 16-day competition, exceeded the previous record of 588.
